John Gillingham - Partner Head of Consultancy Services

John is a Fellow of the Chartered Quality
Institute, a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts,
Manufactures & Commerce (RSA), a Member of the Royal Institution and an
Associate Member of the Institute of Information Security Professionals. He has spent many years in quality management roles within commercial and military electronics environments. John worked for the British Standards Institution (BSi) for six years as a Lead Assessor within the IT and Software Engineering Department, where he was involved mainly with ISO 9001 certifications of IT and telecommunications organisations worldwide. For a further six years, he held the position of Major Accounts Manager working with many of BSi’s largest customers. It was during this latter period (in 1996) that John first became involved in BS 7799 and the pilot scheme for certification of Information Security Management Systems. John was instrumental in the training of assessors, the implementation of the scheme, the development of training courses for auditors and courses for the implementation of Information Security Management Systems. |

In 1999, John left the BSi to found 7799.com Ltd
and concentrate on the development of method, tools and templates to assist
organisations in the implementation of Information Security Management
Systems. John has maintained his connections with the BSi through the Associate Consultant Programme, an initiative to promote dependable consultancy, originally formed exclusively for information security management and now covering all management system disciplines. |

| In his spare time, John enjoys active outdoor activities, including many forms of sailing from windsurfing to cruisers. He is also a member of the Long Distance Walkers Association and aims to enjoy at least one cross-country walk of a minimum of twenty miles (32 km) each month throughout the year. | |
